Last Week

Hey friends and prayer warriors!

It's the last week of Camp! WOAH! Crazy huh? It's been a fast summer indeed! This week I'm Princess Happy Times as well as head counselor over the junior staff. So far it's been a good week. We (the college bound staff) are definitely tired and many of us are getting sick.

Last night I was put into the Chippewa cabin because the senior counselor (Jessica) wasn't feeling good. I slept in their cabin and stayed with them all this morning. Jessica is with them now, but we don't know how she will feel later on.

So this week is looking to be a good week. Please pray for strength, energy and health for this week.
As I was in the Chippewa, one of the girls talked about how she was unsure if she was really saved or not and she wanted to make that decision, so pray that she will get to do that!

If you think of it, many of us are leaving soon for college. Jonathan Frost is leaving Thursday to go back to college in Boston, Arianna is leaving Saturday to drive down to North Carolina, and Abbie is leaving sometime next week for Pennsylvania. Please pray for safe travels for them and that they would have a great year in school. When camp ends, I will be going straight into the classroom and trying to help my mentor teacher prepare for the upcoming school year. I'm beyond excited to start student teaching and am thankful for the opportunity to be student teaching in the same town that I live in.

Thanks for all the prayers!!

Week 6 is almost over

Believer it or not, week 6 is almost over!! I can't believe how fast the summer has gone by. This week I am in a cabin. I'm in the Shawnee cabin and have 5 campers, three who are 12 and two who are 11. It has been a great week thus far and my girls are so excited to be here. My girls want to get honor cabin, so they have picked Echo's hut everyday for cabin time. Right now they are really hoping for tubby's which is an ice cream place that give free ice cream to the first place team on wednesday night. I'm also teaching canoeing which has been really fun. The kids are excited and want to learn which is great! Today I taught them how to tip the canoe and run off of it. The girls who jumped in really loved it!!

Last night I had a terrible migraine and was feeling really sick. After some sleep and taking my medicine, I'm feeling better. However, I do have a cold which includes a cough and stuffy nose. I'm hoping that I'll get better and not worse, so please pray about that since I do have one more week of camp.

Many hands make light work

Hey prayer friends! I have some quick updates for you!!

So this week has been great! I do have some prayer requests that we would love some prayer on. So last year, during week 2, we had to send campers home and close camp for that week and the week after. Many counselors that are here this week were also here that week. On Tuesday night, we had 2 campers (one boy and one girl )throw up. It was nothing big and they did not have a fever. We believe it was a combination of the food not settling well, the kids not drinking enough and running a lot. Wednesday night, we sent that one girl home because she was still not feeling well. We also had 2 girls, 1 boy, 1 kickapoo (little child) and 1 waitress who were not feeling well or had a fever. So please pray that all those who are not feeling well start to get better. Please also pray for those who were counselors the week last year that had everyone sick. I'm praying that they will not be stressed and worried, but to trust God in everything!

Thanks again!!

Can't Believe it's already week 5

Hello prayer partners!!

Believe it or not, it is week 5 here at Camp! For the college bound, that means that we have been here at camp for 6 full weeks and are on week 7. I can definitely feel my body becoming tired and ready for a nice long break! I'll give you a wrap up on Teen week first!

So the end of teen week was great!! I had great talks with my girls during the week and we really bonded as a cabin. I also became close with other girls in other cabins. By the end of the week, my blue team had won! I was so proud of the girls though because each and every one of them said their verses. There were 6 verses so say; 4 of which were small verses and 2 that were longer. On Thursday night during chapel, Pastor Mitch gave the teens an extra credit verse which was Jeremiah 29:11-13. I had 5 our of the 11 girls say that verse the very next morning!! The very last night(Thursday) of devotions, all the girls in the long house had one large devotion where we talked about inner beauty! It was a great encouragement to hear and see the girls in God's word. Overall it was a great week and it was a blessing to work with so many amazing girls!

TEEN CAMP 2013

So this week now, is week 5. I'm again, Princess Happy Times, and we are having a great week! We have played a lot of new but fun games that the kids have really enjoyed and I'm sure will stick around camp. Please pray for homesickness. There have been a good number of campers who have been homesick the past few days. Praise God that we have had many stay behind in chapel and make professions of faith. I have had the opportunity to explain and lead someone to dedicating their lives to Christ as well as accepting Jesus into their heart. We have 3 more full days of camp and I can't wait to see whats next.

Til then! :)

TEEN WEEK, TEEN WEEK, IT IS TEEN WEEK!

Hello friends!

It is teen weeks! I'm in the shawnee cabin and I have six girls! It's been a lot of fun so far! We have four different teams (Red, Yellow, Green, & Blue) and so far, my team (the blue team) is winning. I have really proud of my girls team because they recited 35 verses.

We have 6 cabins of girls and 4 cabins of boys and thus far, we have had a great time in bible class, in missionary moments, and in chapels. Our team competitions have been so fun. We have done relay's and minute-to-win-it games. One of those games involved a teen putting pencils on the top of the fingers, throwing them up and catching them. They asked a leader to come up and I went up. I caught all 12 pencils and it was so awesome!! My team has great team spirit!!

As for our teens, they need some prayer. Some of the teens are going through some rough situations right now, personally and at home. Please also pray that they can follow the rules, especially with not having personal contact.

Til next time :)

Week 3 - The place to be :)

Hello Prayer partners!!

I hope you all are surviving the crazy heat we are getting. It has been so hot out this week!! The end of week 2 went great! I had to leave early because of a wedding which was great! I was told about halfway through the week that i would be a counselor in an older cabin which made me really excited.

So now it is week 3 and we are having a fantastic week! I'm in the cherokee cabin and have 6 girls who are around the age of 11. I'm beyond blessed to have a cabin full of girls who have already accepted Christ as their savior. It's been great to connect with each of these girls and I've loved it! It's been such a good week!! The girls are having a great time and enjoying all the activities. On Monday we went to Echo's hut and did outdoor scavenger hunts; Tuesday we went to the camp store and then did a pop corn party with the missionaries; Wednesday we went back to Echo's and did a bunch of activities in the nature hut. Today we are going on a frog hut and the girls are absolutely excited!!

I'm looking ahead already for next week which is teen week. Please start praying for the teens and staff that we will here next week!

Week 1 end and Week 2 begins

Hey prayer friends!

I hope everyone is having a GREAT summer so far and everyone is staying cool and the crazy heat we had for the past couple of days! We are currently in Week 2 of camp, but it doesn't feel like it and I really can't believe we are already 3 full weeks into the summer here at camp.

The end of week one was good! It was very hot but everyone had a lot of fun! There were three salvation decisions made at the during the week! It was exciting to get to know all the girls since it was such a small group of kids. The weekend was great and refreshing as I prepared for another week here at camp!

Yesterday all the campers began to arrive at camp! It was such a big difference between the first week of only three girls cabins and then this week where we have all eight girls cabins being used. This week I'm princess happy times which is the recreation leader. Last night (Sunday night) we played a whole new game that I created. I'm not sure of the name as of yet, but the campers and staff alike loved it! I plan to use it again this summer if I can. The major goal of the game is the find the stations that have colored popsicle sticks and to bring them back to their cabins can.

This week is shaping out to be a good week! Please pray for those who have been here since CYIA! We are beginning to feel the tiredness of being here for many weeks! Also pray for health! Thanks again and I'll post another update soon!

WELCOM TO CAMP GOOD NEWS

CYIA has finally finished up. It was an excellent 10 days of ministry and hard work. Now that CYIA is over, we had a quick weekend of rest and preparation for Week 1 of camp. Please pray that all those who attended CYIA will continue to have a strong fire for God and want to serve him and any capacity that God.

Week 1 at camp is a small week this week. We have six boys cabins and three girls cabins. This week, Josh Shaw and myself have the opportunity to minister to the junior staff. I am in charge of the teen girls and josh is in charge of the teen boys. We will be working with them and doing devotions with them in hopes that we can be that example to them and help lead them. Please pray that we could do this in a way that would truly help the junior staff with their walk with Christ.

Please pray for all the campers who are here this week. I'm very excited to see what God has in store for these campers this week!

CYIA

CYIA has been a rush, literally!! The first couple days we had classes on how to teach the wordless book, how to counsel in salvation, and other tools. It has been a great couple days. I'm very proud of all my the people in my group as well as the others who went out for open air. We made contact with over 200 people, and of those people, 27 accepted Christ as their savior! The testimony time was excellent!

My personal testimony:
My group was sent to Wilton, Maine which is a tiny town about 30 minutes from camp. Two groups were going and my group had the opportunity to do face painting. We were placed next to a pond or lake side where there was a tiny beach area and a dock for people to jump off. We started off with a little boy who we told the story to, but he didn't really understand so we gave him a track and finished his face painting. After that we got about three kids who were all under the age of 2. I could tell that my group was getting disappointed by the age of the kids because they knew they wouldn't probably understand at the young age of 2. We eventually got some kids who were a little older, and one of those kids whom I talked to got saved (accepted christ). The cool thing was that later on, there was a man who brought his younger boy and then a girl came over without her dad. The dad eventually also came over and I got to talk to him because he was familiar with CEF which was awesome. As the dads left, the who with the son, asked the other dad, "what is so great about Jesus?" and the other man said, "I will tell you all about him". It was so cool to see how God was also working in that mans heart.

Now we are onto the next stage of CYIA which is the the 4-Day-Clubs, and the literature distribution. Monday went really and the literature distribution program handed out about 170 books. My was so proud of my group who handed out 41 of the 170! Today my group handed out about 25!

Please continue to pray for all the groups as the go to clubs and the literature program.

Its almost time

Hey everyone!

Its that time again, summer is here! It's crazy how much rain we've had, you probably wouldn't have guessed it to be summer. It's be a crazy month out of school, but I'm so thankful I have the opportunity to go back and do a full-time summer at camp!

So tonight CYIA starts! As I type this, teens from all over the state as well as outside the state and driving and coming into the dining hall to register. Unfortunately, I cannot be there tonight for the start of CYIA but will arrive tomorrow afternoon.

About a month ago, I was hit by a car while running across the street. God really showed me his protection by providing two doctors at the scene right away as well as having minor injuries! I sprained both my ankles, and that was it. I'm so very thankful. I'm also dealing with some other health issues right now, and thus I have a doctors appointment tomorrow morning to get test results, thus why I was not there for the beginning of the college bound clean up.

Please pray for the college bound program. When I first start 5 summers ago, we had well over 20 people in the program. Each year i have seen our group get smaller and smaller. This summer, at Camp Good News, we have a total of 7 people: Myself, Abbie, Derek, Sam, Jon, Josh, and Arianna.

So as for CYIA, I'm not 100% sure of what i am doing. I do know that I am a dorm supervisor to a cabin. I'm not sure which cabin it will be, but I'm excited to guide these teens in a positive way that will help them grow.

So I know this post is a bit short and not very detailed, but don't worry, I will be updating you all frequently so keep an eye out!! :)
