weeks 5

week 5 has started. I'm really excited for this week. i'm a senior counselor in the shawnee cabin, I have three 11 year olds and three 12 year olds. They all gave their testimony last night so from what i know everyone in my cabin is saved.

All my health problems are clearing up. I'm so thankful.

If any of you hear about the guy in Bangor who was crushed by a backhoe, his funeral is today. Please pray for my boyfriend Will, all the guys who worked with him, and his friends and family. His name was Danny and from what i hear he was a really great guy. Will was pretty bothered by it.

God is so powerful

Teen week is always a rough but rewarding week. I have an awesome group of girls and i'm so thankful for them and how well behaved they are and how much they want to grow closer to God. Please pray for the staff. We need to continue to be the example and not the exception. This should include the junior staff that is here surving, even if they are the same age as many of these teens. There are some prayers that are meeting boys and girls and starting to "like" them. Please pray that although this can happen, that they will be able to focus on why they are here. There are teens that i can see they are falling away from God and it really breaks my heart. I'm praying that God would hold them close and not let them fall to rock bottom, even though this is probably what many of them need.

Please pray for the girls in my cabin. Many come from hard homes and have had rough experiences. Pray God would give them the courage and peace they need. I'm thankful that Kelsey, a girl in my cabin, came to me last night and wanted to dedicate her life to Christ. She wants to be involved in working with teens and children and I'm so excited to see that.

Please pray for the family of a man who died yesturday. He worked with my boyfriend WIll and Will's dad at a gas line site in Bangor. I'm so thankful that Will is safe and that nothing happened to him. I keep praying that he will stay safe. Here is the article for what happened. There isn't much in it because they didn't release the guys name, but Will said he knew him and was becoming good friends with him\

Teen Week

Teen week has started. I am the senior counselor in the Pennacook cabin which is the oldest girls cabin. There are five girls, one 16 year old, three 17 year olds, and one 19 year old. I have no junior counselor so pray that they are a cooperative group. Thus far, they have been an awesome, helpful group.

I'm very excited to see what God has in store for me this week, and there will probably have multiple updates.

It's happy time, all the time

Week 3 has begun. I am "Princess Happy Times" which is a nickname for the recreational leader. I create the game and activities for gym/recreation and surprise pow-wow which is a camp-wide game. Last night we played Mission Impossible. The score was very close, and overall I think everyone had fun.

As I write this, I am planning out all the games for the rest of the week. I try to pick a lot of favorite games that i know campers and counselors would like, because most times, there are games that counselors wouldn't play and campers follow the counselors example.

Tonight, I may be leaving camp after pow-wow to go home for the night and tomorrow morning i will be possibly getting my filling redone because it came out. I am having trouble finding a ride back up to camp, so please pray that i can find a ride, otherwise I will have to cancel. Tomorrow I will be Natausha, meaning I will be checking up on all the campers at night and making sure everyone is going to bed well and not giving this counselors a hard time.

Overall, I'm excited for the challenge and free time I have this week. I'm excited to see what God will be using me for this week as well.

What a fast week

Today is the last day of week 2. It's crazy how fast the summer is going by. I wish summer would last a lot longer then winter does. My cabin has been awesome! They all had previously accepted christ as their savior so they were really working on growing in their christian walk.

My asthma has been good this week. I have been using my new inhaler and I have stayed clear of things I KNOW would cause an asthma attack. Pray these last couple weeks would be the same. I do however, have a hole in my tooth. Back when I was in high school I drank a lot of flavored water which created a soft spot and they filled it in. Two years ago the filling came out and they replaced it and tuesday of this week it came out again. I have an appointment for this upcoming tuesday where they will look at it and hopefully refill it the same day. Pray the appointment goes quickly, it would hurt too much and i can recover quickly.

Beginning of week 2

Week one officially ended Friday night. It was a little rough at the end. Thursday night we had at least 5 campers go home because of head lice. Lice was a big problem last week and we are hoping and praying that is finally under control. Thus far we have no had anyone problems, which i am very thankful for. It made a lot of work for us college bound students as we had to take pretty much all of our stuff home to wash and clean. Overall though, week 1 ended well. My cabin was able to go to Tubby's which is an ice cream place about 10 minutes down the road. They also won honor cabin meaning our cabin had the most points on the girls side.

Last wednesday night I had to go to the ER because of an asthma attack. Please pray for my health and safety this week. I have had a problem with my asthma twice in the past two weeks. Although i'm 21, my parents told me that if i continue to have problems, they want me to come home where they know i won't have the same problems.

Week 2 has started as of last night. i am in the Cherokee cabin and i have two junior counselors, Rachel Swedberg and Rebakah Martin. Please pray I could be a good example to these two girls and that we could all work together well as a team. I have five girls in my cabin: Sophia, Holly, Hannah, Judy and Ashley.

pray for injuries

Just a quick update.
Robby, one of the college bound staff has recently hurt his elbow. Doctors said it was a deeply pulled muscle. He seems to be doing alright, but he is in a good amount of pain, and with this kind of injury, it could take longer to heal then a broken bone. He has also hurt his shoulder a couple of times. Please pray that Robby wouldn't continue to get hurt and that God would have his hand upon him and keep him safe. He has 8 more weeks at camp.

One of my girls in my cabin last night hit her head on the beam, and since it was a head injury they brought her to the hospital just in case.  The biggest thing was that her head hurt, she was dizzy and was seeing double. I will find out more this morning. Please pray that it wasn't anything too serious and that God will help her heal quickly. She will be here 3 more weeks after CYIA is over.

TODAY was are going out for OPEN AIR. We have not yet been assigned to where we will be, but maybe times my group has been brought to Lewiston. Please pray that we, students and staff, could affectively minister the gospel to the children, teens and adults that we see.

Beginning of CYIA

Today is Friday and we have been participating in CYIA for two days. I'm going to go back and talk a little about the first couple of days that college bound was here to clean camp.

All of us arrived on Sunday night to be ready to start bright and early Monday morning. We cleaned many building, cabins and areas around camp. We have 15 college bounds students. Most of us will be at camp all summer, but some will be doing 5-Day clubs. Please pray for the following college bound students: Kristen, Susanna, Brianna, Rebecca, Megan, Danielle, Jonathan, Matt, Chris, Aaron, Robby, Tim, Tom, Josh, and Derek.

CYIA started Wednesday night, and classes started Thursday morning. We have about 130 students including college bound. It's so awesome how many teens are here at CYIA. I am a cabin supervisor for the cherokee cabin and I have 8 girls in my cabin. Our nightly devotions have been really awesome and encouraging. Today all the students had their wordless book test. Many of them passed for the first time, but there are some that will need to repeat the test. Please pray for those who need to repeat, as they were already nervous for the first time.

a weekend away

So it's Friday and I leave for camp in 2 days. I've been packing what seems to be my whole room, although i know too well that I can't take that much.

I have talked and heard from many college bound people including myself who are sick right now. Please pray for us, and any other CYIA student who may be coming to camp in this upcoming week who is sick. Going to camp and being sick isn't fun.

I will probably update Monday night after our first day of cleaning and getting to know the college bound staff. Many of us have done college bound before, but there are a lot of new girls on college bound this summer. Pray to prepare their hearts for a long, but great summer ahead with many blessings and trials.

It's almost time for camp

I want to thank you all for supporting me, financially and through prayer. Prayer warriors are ALWAYS needed!! I suppose i should start out by telling you what I will be doing this summer at camp. First of all, I will be at camp for 9 full weeks!! I will be arriving the night of Sunday, June 19. June 20, 21, and 22 will be devoted to cleaning up the campground and preparing for CYIA (Christian Youth In Action training school). Teens start coming for CYIA wednesday night (the 22) and everything fully starts the 23rd. At CYIA will more then likely be a cabin supervisor of, at the most, 9 girls. I am also a supervisor in the 14-year old program which is where they hand out wonder devotional books instead of going the 5 day club. CYIA will last until July 1st.

After CYIA I will have 7 full weeks of camp where i will more then likely be a senior counselor all 7 weeks. There may be a week where i could have a different job such as working in the kitchen, checking extra duties, getting/sorting the mail, working the trading post/camp store and many other things. We'll have to wait and see. I'm excited to see what God has in store for me this summer.
